Pack food boxes, plastic food items and canned items in a labelled box or bin. Make sure to check the expiration date of all items to avoid packing items that are no longer edible. There are certain items you should use up or throw out before your moving date like:
Use the original packaging if you still have it, if not make sure to pack each piece individually with packing paper by using a large enough piece to cover the front and back. Tape the edges to seal. For better protection you should use foam or bubble wrap over each china.
Avoid stacking cups. If possible get pre-sectioned boxes to place your cups. Wrap each piece individually making sure to cover the glass rims by folding the paper edges inside.
Always make sure to add padding under your bin or box before placing your China and Glassware items in them. If you are not using bubble or foam wrap at the bottom of the box use towels you have at home. Make sure to line the entire bin/box with bubble or foam wrap and fill the empty areas in the box with crushed paper to avoid movement.
Pack each pot/pan individually with wrapping paper to avoid scratching. If you are stacking you should add a piece of foam or bubble wrap between them. Make sure to fill the empty areas in the box with crushed paper/newspaper to avoid movement.
Wrap plates and bowls individually using packing paper or newsprint. For better protection you can use foam or bubble wrap between them instead. Line the entire box with bubble wrap and fill the empty areas in the box with crushed paper/newspaper to avoid movement. If you are not using bubble wrap as padding at the bottom of your bin or box make sure to place a few towels.
Avoid stacking cups. If possible get pre-sectioned boxes to place your cups. If not wrap each piece individually using packing paper making sure to cover the glass rims by folding the paper edges inside. Line the entire bin/box with bubble or foam wrap or place a few towels at the bottom and top of the cups.
Silverware should be wrapped with plastic wrap this will prevent tarnish and rust. You can than cover it with paper and put them in a small box.
If you have kept the original box and packaging of your small appliances, dismantle the appliance and put it back in the box. If not, all blades should be removed from kitchen appliances and covered with plastic wrap or cardboard shields. Place these in cartons or plastic containers before putting them in the bin or box. Tie the cords of all small appliances and wrap each item with paper or towels before placing them in the box or bin.
